Through education, we begin to see the individual, not the illness.
Explore: Our Roots of Identity, Privilege and Racism
Facilitated by Tierra Barber and Shannon Taylor
Four Week Series
We will be exploring the roots of identity, privilege and racism. This series will challenge us to reflect and evaluate our views, attitudes, and actions toward marginalized communities. We will explore structures of systemic racism, racial injustice and white supremacy.

This class consists of:
-
Four 1.5 hours sessions
-
Four 20-30 minute yoga/grounding videos to help us "pause" and check in with our body, heart and intentions. This is a bonus we are providing and completely optional. This is hard work and we wanted to provide tools for grounding and centering that could be used before or after each class.
Throughout this series, we will:
-
Look at experiences that have shaped our mentality.
-
Investigate hidden biases and how they affect the way we interact with others.
-
Engage in respectful and constructive dialogue on building a more inclusive community
-
Create actionable steps towards being an effective co-liberator in everyday life.
Using the yamas/niyamas (fundamental yoga principles) as a foundation, we will learn the true meaning of living yoga off the mat; opening our mind and heart to all beings, and showing up in the world — a higher version of ourselves!
This class will be taught by Shannon Taylor and Tierra Barber — two kind, wise and wonderful human beings, as well as fabulous yoga and urban zen instructors. They have created a brave and safe space for honest, hard conversations and self-reflection.
